The impact of artificial intelligence on employment: Exploring the balance between progress and job substitution

Juan Pablo García

Dear delegates,
We would like to extend a welcoming hand to all of you who decided to take part in this innovative committee. We, your chairs Juan Pablo García and Externo Marymount, are looking forward to a lively debate that can alter the course of history. Both of us have had an extensive history with technology, and we noticed that the some most important issues in the world right now are those pertaining to AI. That’s why we decided to tackle a topic that truly demonstrates the impact that AI has had on the world. Whether you are only beginning your MUN career, or already have several prizes under your belt, we made the committee in such a way that all delegates have an incredibly important role to play, and if you do it right, you may change how our future will unfold.

Since this committee is about a relatively new topic, we strongly encourage you to think outside of the box, especially since we are striving to make the committee as innovative as possible. While staying realistic, try to think outside the current constraints of technology, don’t be scared to create something no one has thought of before.

We are personally looking forward to all the creative strategies and solutions that we’re sure you will come up with. As chairs, we will strive to keep the committee as creative and fluid as possible. Because of this, if you have ideas that could change the flow of the entire debate, don’t be afraid to propose it and put it into action. This is a great opportunity to improve your skills, especially due to the flexibility and room for creativity that we are allowing. That being said, we are extremely grateful for your participation, and we wish that we have an excellent committee, engaging debates, and most of all, a memorable experience.

Looking forward to hearing you all
Juan Pablo García, President of ECOSOC
