The Zimmermann Telegram Crisis (1917)

Santiago Carbo

Esteemed Delegates,
It is a great honor and privilege to introduce you to the XII edition of KCPMUN. My name is Santiago Carbó, and I’m this year’s president of the Historical Council Committee.

This year’s committee will be focusing on the pivotal moment when British intelligence intercepted a telegram from Germany to Mexico, encouraging Mexico to attack the United States, assuming they were weak. This topic allows delegates to explore the geopolitical consequences of the event and explore the interplay between good and evil, power and restoration. This committee will focus on peace, collaboration, and, most importantly, debate. I encourage every delegation to express their thoughts, explore creative solutions, and remain true to the topic but, above all, your ability to work diplomacy during stressful situations and even when things don’t go your way keep fighting.

As your president, I am excited to witness the excitement, passion, and dedication you bring to this committee. Please know that I am here to support you throughout this journey. Should you have any questions or require guidance, feel free to reach out to me.

I look forward to meeting each of you and to the impactful discussions we will share.

Sincerely,
Santiago Carbó
Historical Council President
